Tenant Council Agenda 072507i
Iroquois Tenant Council Agenda
7/25/07
We want to thank everyone that attended our first Tenant Council meeting for the year 2007-08’. Hope we can make it a great year for everyone!
The community discussed about changing and enhancing how incident reports are handled. The community members feel that they don’t have confidence in management dealing with incident reports without being fair. Some of the tenants had some ideas on how to enhance the incident report procedures where it is fair between management and tenants.
Here are some of the tenants’ ideas listed below:
Incident reports that are stored in a binder and any other copies should be destroyed after one year.
Incident reports and camera images should be accessible and provided for tenants’ legal use. As long as it is not used against other tenants’; i.e., tenant vs. guest, tenant vs. police, and tenant vs. staff, etc…
These are suggestions from tenants’ that have attended the Tenant Council meeting but is not considered a concrete proposal for now. But, soon we will be setting up a date where tenants are welcome to help create a better Incident Report Procedure Proposal that is fair for the tenants. “We need your support and vote!”
Tenants have also expressed some concerns on who their safety floor reps are, especially concerning people whom are disabled and need assistance during an emergency situation.
These are the things that the tenant council and the community voted on:
09 voted Yes for cleaning couches at least once every three months.
13 voted Yes for up to $500.00 budget for Labor Day BBQ on September 3rd.
08 voted Yes to celebrate Native American Heritage Month in November.
13 voted Yes for not having Yuly Urbina attend in our future Comm. Mtgs.
Topics to bring up on our next Tenant Council meeting:
Tenant Council is looking into free legal aid as an option that will advocate for the community and the Tenant Council. To discuss this matter further, our next meeting is August 15,2007 at 5:30 P.M.
